Oleksandr Yakovenko is a Ukrainian entrepreneur, founder, and CEO of TAF Industries (formerly TAF Drones), a leading Ukrainian defense technology company established in 2023. With a background in international logistics and a strong commitment to Ukraine’s sovereignty, he has led the development of advanced UAV systems, including the “Kolibri” FPV drone — a combat-tested drone extensively used on the frontline and credited with causing thousands of enemy casualties.
Under his leadership, TAF Industries has grown into one of Ukraine’s most advanced and large-scale defense manufacturers, specializing in FPV loitering munitions, reconnaissance UAVs, and electronic warfare systems designed for modern warfare needs. In 2024, Oleksandr launched the Innovation Hub, a private Defense Tech cluster that brings together developers, military personnel, and investors to speed up the deployment of advanced technologies in the battlefield.
Beyond TAF Industries, Mr. Yakovenko founded Supramarine, a logistics company providing comprehensive multimodal transport solutions across air, sea, and rail. He also co-founded Bravetech, a major nationwide supplier of critical UAV parts and a provider of technical support for drone operations.
In addition to his business ventures, Mr. Yakovenko established the Wave’91 Charitable Foundation, which has equipped Ukrainian frontline units with advanced technologies and supported high-impact initiatives to boost national defense since February 2022.
Recognized nationally for his significant contributions to defense innovation, Oleksandr Yakovenko remains a vocal advocate for building a sovereign, resilient, and future-focused defense tech ecosystem in Ukraine.
The defence industry is rapidly becoming one of the most dynamic sectors of the global economy, with technology at its core. Demand is rising amid the war in Ukraine and global instability — military spending worldwide has already reached its highest levels since the Cold War.
The war in Ukraine has proven that traditional approaches to defence are no longer effective. Drones, autonomous systems, digital command, and adaptive manufacturing are shaping a new security architecture.
Ukraine has gained unique expertise in defence tech. The discussion will focus on which technologies will drive the industry’s future, how the state should design regulation, and how international partnerships can open global markets for Ukrainian innovations.
